BEACHES: Condado and Ocean Park
You certainly cannot leave San Juan without visiting some of its most attractive beaches. A mere 500 meters from the Coral Princess Hotel, you’ll get to enjoy the crystalline waters of the Caribbean, the golden sand and the sun at one of the best beaches in San Juan: Condado Beach.
And to continue enjoying the beaches of this city, some 5 minutes away from the hotel is the Ocean Park Beach, another popular beach within the Puerto Rican capital. Enjoy the sun and the sea at San Juan!
Old San Juan
This is undoubtedly one of the favorite tourist attractions of San Juan. Its cobblestone streets and colorful buildings have been preserved since their construction in the 16th century, giving them an architectural style that is particularly unique to this area. It’s also known as “the walled city” and has become popular among tourist thanks to its ample offering of restaurants, cafés, museums and other places of interest like the San Juan Bautista Cathedral, San Jose Church (both constructed in the 1500’s) and the oldest churches in the Americas.
El Yunque National Forest
40 minutes to the East of the Puerto Rican capital you’ll find El Yunque, a tourist attraction that is favorite for to many because of its scenic paths, waterfalls and biodiversity. If you enjoy outdoor activities and connecting with nature, be sure to visit this unmissable wonder of the island.
San Felipe del Morro Castle
This imposing citadel constructed in 1539, has become one of the most visited attractions in San Juan. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983, and since then, hundreds of tourists and locals have gathered there to enjoy the tunnels, green areas and its panoramic breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean.
San Cristobal Castle
If you want to keep travelling through time, this fortress will transport you to the 1700s. This is the biggest fortification constructed by the Spaniards in America and some remnants of that time remain in the building. It’s still possible to visit some of the rooms of those soldiers who fought to protect the city, and other historic passages on the site.
The Capitol of Puerto Rico
This building represents the legislative power of the island, and it’s visited by over 20 thousand tourist every year. Its marble structure has captivated the attention of travelers, who are not only attracted to its construction, but to Puerto Rico’s political life and the historical events that have marked the island. Guided tours are offered from Monday to Friday, starting at 8:30 in the morning.
La Fortaleza
La Fortaleza, also known as Palacio de Santa Catalina (Santa Catalina Palace), is the official residence of the Governor of Puerto Rico, and another of the tourist attractions in San Juan. It was constructed in the 16th century to defend the city and its port during the Spanish colonization. Guided tours to walk through this government building are offered from Monday to Friday.
Casa Bacardí
Be part of a tasting tour, participate in a mixology class, and bottle your own rum in one of the most renowned distilleries of the world: Casa Bacardí. You can easily get there on taxi or taking the ferry from Old San Juan.
Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico
If you want to know more about the cultural roots of Puerto Rico and have direct contact with the history of the American continent, don’t forget to visit the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico.
